Vita Bahari, Inc. has compiled a list of our most frequently asked questions. We hope that this will guide you in your shipping activity: When should I get a booking number/shipping number? Roughly two weeks before you are planning to ship your belongings, and after you have completed your packing. We require you to contact us that early since we will have to prepare any documents and reserve space in our warehouse for your items. For pick up services, we need at least 2 days in advance. How long does the shipping normally take? It normally takes around 4 to 5 weeks from the West Coast, and 5 to 7 weeks from the East coast, Gulf and Midwest areas. How many times a month does Vita Bahari, Inc. ship overseas? For shipments to Jakarta, the shipment will leave once a month. For all other destinations, we have a weekly vessel. How to obtain the documentation from the Consulate General? The only country that requires documentation for sending your goods is Indonesia. Please contact your local Consulate General and inquire the exact documents you need. We cannot supply you with these documents. When does the Insurance form need to be filled out? The form needs to be filled out completely prior to your departure overseas. The form can be either sent to us via fax, or together with the payment by mail, after informing us the value amount you require. The insurance coverage is not mandatory for all shippers, however it does act as safety precaution for any breakable items you may have. When do I schedule a pick up of my belonging? If you are in the area(s) that pick up service is available, you need to contact us at least one week prior to the pick up date. We need adequate time to schedule and prepare for the pick up. As a reminder, all pick, ups are only Monday through Friday The exact time cannot be determined. Where do I get my moving materials? Vita Bahari cannot supply the moving materials, except in New York City areas. Boxes and packing materials can be purchased at your local Mailbox Etc., U-Haul centers, Home Depot or other home/office supply centers. When will I receive the bill? After we receive your goods at our warehouse, they will send the measurements. This usually takes about 2 to 3 days. Once we receive this information, and the insurance , if any, we will send the invoice to you as soon as possible. How do I pay my charges? All freight charges to overseas must be prepaid in the U.S. Cashiers’ check, money order, or Certified check. We do not accept personal checks. In special cases, we also accept wire transfer payments. How do I know what is the volume of my goods? Take the measurements of your boxes (in inches) Is there a weight limitation on my boxes? Boxes should not exceed 80 lbs per box. The breakdown is as follows: |
