VITA BAHARI Inc., founded and incorporated in New York in 1983, functions as International Freight Managers. Our specialty is the arranging of shipments of general merchandise and personal effects, either large or small, by sea or air, from any town/city in the U.S.A. to all countries abroad.

Vita Bahari, Inc. handles in particular the shipments belonging to foreign students, businesspersons and government officials who are returning to their homelands after finishing their terms of service or studies in the United States. Our plan is to handle shipments of personal effects that other shipping companies shy away from.

In connection with the above, an infrastructure of agents and warehouses have been assembled in many cities of the United States to receive, handle and arrange the consolidation and the subsequent transportation of these goods/shipments to any destination throughout the world.

Vita Bahari is also able to provide a full range of services for the importation of shipments to any town/city in the United States. Through the established network of agents in the U.S. as well as abroad we can handle the chartering of vessels for bulk as well as general/heavy lift cargoes.

Management:

Managing Director John Tumbelaka:

Born and raised in Indonesia, the founder and Managing Director, John Tumbelaka brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge in the matters of Transportation and Trade especially in respect to the South East Asian Nations. Prior to founding Vita Bahari, Inc., Mr. Tumbelaka was Owners Representative in New York for Trikora Lloyd (one of Indonesia's premier shipping lines) when it initiated their services to and from the United States. Before this assignment, he was a senior member of Trikora's management in their Head Office in Jakarta, overseeing the Liner Service Department culminating with a position as Sales Director in Tokyo, Japan.

Operations Manager Tarina Thibeault:

Originally from Surabaya, Indonesia, Ms. Thibeault has been a part of Vita Bahari, Inc. since 1993. Initially an intern, Ms. Thibeault was officially promoted to Operations Manager in 1996 where she coordinates the general operations of Vita Bahari, Inc. and acts as the primary contact person. She received her Bachelors' Degree in Business Management in 1995 from State University of New York and received certification from the World Trade Institute in International Shipping/Management.

Special Projects Coordinator Robert J. Thibeault, Jr.:

Robert joins Vita Bahari, Inc. after spending 6 years working in the banking industry. He started in Manufacturers Hanover Trust in the student loan department which merged into Chemical Bank which in turn merged with Chase Manhattan Bank. Since 1996 he has handled all special projects for Vita Bahari, Inc. This includes purchasing of products for export for overseas companies, all advertising and marketing of Vita Bahari's services, and the development and the management of Vita Bahari, Inc. website which you of course are currently reading. Robert has also personally supervised international moves for many foreign government officials including the Ambassadors to the United Nations from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei.
